Jakarta, July 2025 – Recognizing the vital role of mothers as the front line in maintaining family health, PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA (Ajinomoto) is once again launching the GEMBIRA program (Gerakan Masak Bergizi Bersama Ajinomoto Health Provider) in Pesanggrahan, South Jakarta. Through this initiative, Ajinomoto invites PKK mothers from 11 major cities in Indonesia to actively promote education on balanced nutrition and smart salt consumption as part of a healthier family lifestyle.
Since its launch in 2022, GEMBIRA has reached over 9,600 PKK mothers across various regions. Each year, the program features practical nutrition education sessions, balanced cooking demonstrations, and training on preparing delicious yet low-salt meals. All of this is part of Ajinomoto’s commitment to achieving its 2030 goal: to extend the healthy life expectancy of one billion people worldwide, including Indonesians.
“Mothers play a vital role in preparing healthy and nutritious meals for their families. Today, we are educating 150 PKK mothers in Pesanggrahan about the importance of balanced nutrition, how to choose the right foods using the ‘Isi Piringku’ guide, and raising awareness about salt intake reduction through the Smart Salt campaign,” said Darmanto, Director of PT AJINOMOTO SALES INDONESIA.
He explained that the Smart Salt campaign emphasizes reducing the risk of hypertension by lowering salt consumption—without sacrificing flavor. The application is simple: reduce salt to 1 tsp + ½ tsp of AJI-NO-MOTO® MSG (for example, in 1 liter of water/soup).
Darmanto added that GEMBIRA is part of the company’s mission to improve the quality of life for Indonesians through sustainable family nutrition education. After South Jakarta, the program will continue in other major cities such as Semarang, Malang, Solo, Makassar, Cirebon, Medan, Samarinda, Surabaya, and more.
The event was also enlivened by the presence of Chef Nicky Tirta, who impressed the audience with a cooking demo featuring “Nasi Selimut ala Masako®”—a nutritious homemade dish consisting of warm rice, savory-seasoned chicken, carrots, corn, and broccoli. This recipe combines taste, color, and texture in one dish and is easy to make at home using Masako® Chicken Flavor.
“Ajinomoto has a great mission—not just about flavor and selling seasonings, but also educating the public about nutrition, better cooking methods, and caring for the environment. I’m happy to be part of this movement,” said Chef Nicky Tirta.
