PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA Educating Prospective Culinary Entrepreneurs Create Healthy & Profitable Products

Jakarta – PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA in collaboration with the RR Event Planner held a Webinar Event: "Be a Healthy Food Business Owner", as an effort to support prospective Indonesian culinary entrepreneurs, so that they continue to prioritize the creation of healthy products but can still be very profitable by providing informative facts and benefits of Umami Seasoning such as Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). The number of participants for this webinar reached 426 participants, and most of them work as students majoring in culinary arts, as well as culinary entrepreneurs in the Bali & Bandung area.

Present as one of the speaker, Khoirul Anwar, S.Gz, M.Si, a nutritionist and Head of the Nutrition Study Program at Sahid University Jakarta who said that prevention of degenerative diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, and hypertension, is important to heed the recommendations from the Indonesian Ministry of Health regarding recommendation to limit sugar, salt, and fat intake (GGL).

“Actually, if we want the food we consume to have a high taste, but also want a low-salt diet, using Umami Seasoning such as MSG can be used as a solution. Many studies abroad, such as in Japan, show that the use of MSG can be a low-salt diet strategy. This is because the sodium content in MSG is only 1/3 of the sodium content in ordinary table salt,” said Khoirul, at the webinar.

"So, for entrepreneurs in the culinary field, it is better if they follow the recommendations for limiting the use of sugar, salt, fat in their products and food menu creations. We can apply and refer to balanced nutrition guidelines," he continued.

In addition to material on strategies for limiting sugar, salt, fat intake, and balanced nutrition guidelines, in this webinar event, Horeka Dept – PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA also shared tips for creating food product that still apply balanced nutrition guidelines and also very profitable to be sell. These tips and materials are presented in two menus, namely Beef Blackpepper Dosirak & Oishi Niku Curry Udon. These menu are chosen as Asian Cuisine trends are rapidly increase in Indonesia and also can be served as dine-in or delivery service menu.

“In our review of the Beef Blackpepper Dosirak & Oishi Niku Curry Udon menu, we also include protein sources from animal and vegetable side dishes, vitamin and mineral sources are also available from vegetables & fruit. We also ensure that these 2 menus will be very profitable because they use the AJI-NO-MOTO® PLUS seasoning, which can add a savory level to dishes that are stronger than ordinary MSG. Because it is more savory, it uses less (¼) than ordinary MSG, so it is more cost-effective in production,” said Chef Wisnu from Horeka Dept. – PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA.

Through this webinar, PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA hopes to educate participants about nutritional information with scientific facts, and contribute to making culinary entrepreneurs more aware of health. This webinar event will continue until November 2021.
