Masako® and Sajiku® from Ajinomoto Earn TOP Halal Award 2023

Jakarta, November 21, 2023 – PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA (Ajinomoto) consistently ensures that all of its product lines obtain halal certification. Not only that, Ajinomoto also consistently implements the Halal Guarantee System (SJH) in all its factories in carrying out the production process. With this commitment and consistency, two brands owned by PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA, namely Masako® & Sajiku® received the TOP Halal Award 2023 which was organized by the Indonesia Halal Training & Education Center (IHATEC) Marketing Research.


“This award is a form of appreciation and we accept it with great gratitude. Ajinomoto expresses great gratitude to the families in Indonesia who remain loyal to our products. This award is proof that Ajinomoto is able to maintain its product halal. The efforts we have made so far are a form of the company's commitment to provides delicious, high quality products that consumers can trust. This award is very meaningful for the progress of our Halal Management and provides motivation and pride for the company to continue to meet the needs and expectations of the community as our main priority," said Ir. Hermawan Prajudi, Director of PT AJINOMOTO INDONESIA.


"We will continue to carry out continuous innovation while still complying with other regulations set by the regulator, so that the implementation of halal guarantees in the future is maintained in order to provide good products for all families in Indonesia," he continued.


The 2023 TOP Halal Award by IHATEC Marketing Research was held to appreciate all brands that succeeded in achieving top position in the Top Halal Index.


“Indonesia is a country with large halal market potential. This is certainly an excellent opportunity for developing a halal-based industry. "Therefore, halal can be used as a brand amplifier to increase competitiveness," said Evrin Lutfika S.TP, M.TPn, Director of IHATEC Marketing Research, at the Aryaduta Hotel, Menteng, Jakarta, Wednesday (18/10/2023).


"This year's theme is 'Halal Industry Readiness to Enter the Global Halal Market', and the TOP Halal Award will be held every year. This year, there are around 500 brands competing to win TOP Halal title. This year, TOP Halal Award was given to 31 brands that successfully achieved the title of top halal brand," she continued.


To determine the winners, IHATEC conducted a Top Halal Index survey. The survey was conducted in five major cities in Indonesia, namely Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Medan and Makassar. The survey involved 1,300 respondents from millennial circles. The survey was conducted from May to June 2023 using the face to face interview method.


Consumers are asked directly about the halal brands that are in consumers' minds in each product category without being given a choice of answers. It is really halal product brands that are stuck in consumers' minds. Not only that, this survey also contains information about the behavior and perceptions of Indonesian Millennials towards halal products, halal brand awareness, last usage of halal brands, future intention of halal brands, Top Halal Index, brand switching analysis, conversion rate analysis, and others.


There are three parameters that form brand elements, namely Top of Mind Halal Brand Awareness, Last Usage Brand Halal, and Future Intention Brand Halal. Meanwhile, halal elements are formed by four parameters: namely perceptions of product halal communication, halal perceptions of raw materials, halal perceptions of the production process and halal perceptions of product packaging.
